  • Spécialisation

I am a specialist of the Early American Republic, with a more recent interest in the colonial period (thus covering the years 1607-1865). I am currently working on a history of early American antislavery before 1830 from an Atlantic perspective.

My interests also include North American slave narratives. I have just translated and edited William Wells Brown’s narrative together with Prof. Claire Parfait (University Paris 13). The book is to be published in 2012 with the Presses Universitaires de Rouen Le récit d'esclave de Williams Wells Brown, écrit par lui-même.

I am currently editing two volumes of collected essays on global slavery and abolition, one together with Myriam Cottias (EHESS), which will be entitled Distant Ripples of the Abolitionist Wave (Africa World Press). The other will be entitled Couleurs, esclavages, libérations coloniales 1804-1860 (Les Perséides, 2012).
